Release builds can send two anonymous events:
  • One install event after the first successful guided setup.
  • One heartbeat with a performed weekly release check.
The events do not contain session content, project names, file paths, prompts, or account information. For the complete field list, see Privacy.

Disable telemetry

Set this environment variable before you run Handshake:
When this variable has a value, Handshake does not send telemetry and does not create ~/.handshake/telemetry_id. Add the variable to your shell profile if you want the setting to apply to future terminal sessions.
The GitHub release check is separate from the anonymous telemetry event. Handshake uses the release check to report available updates.
